Dear Aunt Julie

Dear Auntie J, I have climbed my first mountain, ALL BY MYSELF!! I can't wait to go mountain climbing with you for real!

Well, maybe I should wait until I can stand up a little better in the driveway with my big boots on. (Auntie Mere & Sophia, if you're reading this, Mommy will try REALLY hard to get all the mud out of this pink snowsuit for you! It was even dirtier by the time we finished chipping away at all the ice in the driveway ~ even my hat was black!)

My big brothers were having fun pretending to live on 'Yellow Snow Road' that you used to live near in Alaska. I think Mommy needs to go buy a better variety of food coloring colors so they can "spray paint" the snow a better color. Our friend Brian wants to teach the boys how to write their names in the snow using REAL yellow-snow coloring. You and I wouldn't be able to do that.

Science Museum

We had a great vacation week ~ especially with Daddy off with us!! We spent one day at the Science Museum in Boston ... the boys spent a good part of the day watching this ball run ... I think Bryce would be quite happy with this in our living room! There was also a cool frog exhibit going on, and we also saw a very impressive Roving Mars movie in the Omni Theatre. Spencer was so excited to brave the Lightning Show again ... go figure!

We also enjoyed some snowshoeing, bowling, sleepovers at Mimi & Grumpers and Grammy & Grampa's, cross country skiing at Sunday River, and a camp-out in the living room. We reviewed the week tonight and talked about their favorite moments ... Bryce's favorite moment was playing his first real arcade game with Daddy at the bowling ally ~ like father, like son!!!

I discovered today that the new stove has a lock that can be turned on (when the oven is not on) so the kids don't open the oven door whenever they feel like it. So, the real question is, why doesn't everything in the house have some kind of lock on it???

Getting Smart!

This is the stool that we keep over by the stairs so that Bryce can step over the gate by himself when he wants to go up & down stairs without unhooking the gate from the wall. Abigail has discovered that she can now go get it and carry it to the window on her own to see what's happening in the world!

Like Father, Like Son ...

Bryce wanted to play one of his "educational" games on the computer today, and we happened to stumble across a 'Crazy Taxi' game, where the space bar jumps over the other cars in the way, and the four arrow keys control speed and direction. I played a few rounds with Bryce, but then told him he could wait for Daddy ... I'm truely not sure who was having more fun here!!

Out with the old ...

As always, any worker who comes to the house has a full audience! Yes, Abigail is standing on a stool! The poor delivery guys didn't even attempt to make it up our messy driveway, so they had to carry the stove all the way up from the road!

In with the new!!! Hooray, we can cook a full meal!!! The kids were most fascinated by the light that comes on inside the oven without opening the door! Yes, ours was a bit outdated and not functioning too well ... even Julie agreed that we needed a new oven when she burned a graham cracker crust!! Thank you Mimi & Grumpers!!!

If I Had A Million Dollars

There's Still Hope

Today I was taking out the withered flowers from the bouquet we brought home from Jana's wake. Bryce came over with his empty milk cup and decided to rearrange all the flowers I was taking out into his cup. "Won't daddy be so surprised that I'm doing this for him!" he says. Later in the day, the two of us were out shoveling and playing in the snow. Bryce decided to play God, and up by the house was heaven, down where I was chipping away at the ice at the bottom of the driveway was earth. "Didn't you have it on your calendar that God was coming today?" he says on one of his trips down to earth. (Now, for those of you who don't know, Spencer is the one who currently wants to be a priest, has been insisting on saying mass everyday, complete with juice in a wine glass and graham crackers broken into the right size pieces. When Spencer wants to say the rosary in the car, Bryce can be found holding onto the cross and swinging the rest of the rosary beads in a circle, as fast as he can get them to go, and as close to Abigail's head as he could come.) When we came inside a little later, don't you know it, all the flowers that Bryce had rearranged into his milk cup had come back to life!

So maybe, just maybe, we may actually have a God-loving florist!

Snow Fun!

Okay okay okay ... I'll post SOMETHING!! Brian & Becky are putting me to shame ... blogging every night ... please!! Actually I've been planning to back track and post a bunch of pictures from the last few months, but I think I'll just get started from here and see if I can get back in the habit of staying updated! Daddy, we miss you! Shoveling with a 20 pound baby on my back just doesn't work ... the driveway is a mess! But the boys had a blast sledding down the walkway and crashing into the snowbank. Scene of the night: I got the boys to bed, but they kept making noises up there so I finally went back up to resettle them. In the midst of figuring out what was going on, Bryce said that Spencer had hit him. I looked at Spencer and said, really dramatically, 'You hit him??!!' Bryce sticks his head out from the bottom bunk with a HUGE grin on his face and nods his head up and down! I had to bite my lip not to laugh at him! Then he adds, "And Spencer wouldn't let me come down and tell you." Little devil!
